Wood flooring fits into any décor scheme, from Victorian to Art Deco to contemporary. You can choose from dozens of wood grains and colors to get just the look you want. Consider the following when planning your wood floor:
The type of wood you select will affect the look and durability of your floor. Different woods can have vastly different grain patterns -- maple usually has creamy, smooth grain patterns, while oak has a more rugged look. We can show you samples of many different types. Different woods also have different hardnesses. Maple, for example, is extremely hard and durable -- it is usually used on basketball courts and gym floors.
The finish you select will determine the color and the glossiness of the wood (as well as increasing its durability). The palette of colors you can choose is almost endless, from pale natural finishes to deep, burgundy or brown stains. You may also choose to go with a white or black wood floor.
You'll also need to determine whether you'd like a glossy finish or a matte finish. But don't worry -- whatever you choose, you can refinish it again in the future.

Consider how you'll want the wood planks placed on your floor. Do you want the planks to be horizontal to your longest wall? Maybe you'd like them placed diagonally. Perhaps you want an inner square laid horizontally, with an outer "frame" of diagonal planks!
Many experts feel that the beauty of a wood floor is enhanced when the length of the planks is perpendicular to the largest light source in a room.
