How Much Maintenance Do Wood Floors Require?

Very little!  Here are some tips:

  • Regularly dust mop or vacuum
  • Spills and tracked-in dirt can be cleaned with a slightly damp sponge mop
  • Place throw rugs in high traffic areas
  • Apply felt floor glides to the legs of furniture that is moved frequently
  • Do not wax or polish your wood floor! Doing so may actually make the floor harder to clean, and cause problems for future recoats
  • Depending on the amount of traffic, the finish on your floor may require recoating every 2 to 5 years.  However, the wood itself should last a lifetime.
